Bog’Art Completes North Side Terminal Extension at Avram Iancu Cluj International Airport

Airport Cluj-Napoca – June 5, 2024

Bog’Art, as the leader of the Bog’Art – UTI Construction and Facility Management – ACI Cluj consortium in the “North Side Passenger Departures Terminal Extension” Project at Avram Iancu Cluj International Airport, is pleased to announce the completion of the works, marking a significant moment in the development of airports in Romania.

The project, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund through the Large Infrastructure Operational Program 2014-2020, aimed to extend the North Side Passenger Departures Terminal, increase passenger regrouping spaces on both the ground floor and the first floor, add 3 new boarding gates, accommodating a total of 7 Security flows for Schengen destinations and 4 Security flows for Non-Schengen destinations, and expand the aircraft parking platform by nearly 9,000 square meters to improve air traffic management. The new spaces are equipped with state-of-the-art security devices, standard type C3, to ensure enhanced passenger safety.

The total value of the project was 365,708,900.80 lei, an investment that will strengthen Avram Iancu Cluj International Airport’s position among the main air hubs in Central and Eastern Europe and make a significant contribution to the economic and tourism development of the region.

Bog’Art’s achievements in the project include:

  • Extending the terminal by approximately 7,200 square meters. The works involved extending the passenger departure terminal by approximately 18 meters on the north side towards the runway and on the east side with a section of about 17 meters, aligned on the north side with the rest of the extension. This extension allowed for the addition of three new boarding gates, each equipped with elevators for access to the first floor.
  • The structure of the new construction is made of steel columns and beams, with composite concrete slabs, the slab being cast in a formwork of corrugated sheet metal, similar to the existing one.
  • The façade is ventilated type, clad with fiber cement boards and curtain wall with aluminum profiles.

“We are delighted to announce the completion of this important project, which represents a crucial step in the development of airports in Romania and in enhancing competitiveness internationally. Our team has put in sustained effort and commitment to deliver this project, and the results are visible and remarkable. We have adhered to the contractual deadlines and allocated budget, applying advanced and innovative technical solutions that allowed us to meet the complex requirements of the project, with special emphasis on ensuring the quality and durability of the work done. We are dedicated to the mission of our company and ready to get involved in future projects for the development of regional infrastructure. We thank Avram Iancu Cluj International Airport and the local community for their trust and appreciate the contribution of all partners involved in this project.” – stated Sorin Greu, CEO of Bog’Art.
